About Us

Grief-Help (not a company, just web site) was founded by Mark Teats to touch people. We are convinced of two things. One is that everyone has experienced a broken heart at some time or another. Since loss is negatively cumulative the effects of the losses have lingered on in your life and you are not as happy and fulfilled as you would like to be. Secondly, we are convinced that most major decisions to change are emotionally based decisions. Until we decide at the emotional level to change we will not. All the facts and intellectual arguments in the world will not motivate us to make a lasting change. When the heart is touched we will change.

Our purpose is to provide people with the tools and motivation to change. Our teaching and philosophies are based on Christian principles but we are not associated with any particular church. We are non-denominational and our programs are based on life changing principles found in a variety of sources. We present our teachings in a variety of settings from businesses to churches.

Since January of 2002, Mark and his wife, Patti, have facilitated Grief-Recovery Outreach Programs in the Mesa-Phoenix area. Mark offers seminars and workshops on grief and loss as well as private grief counseling. As a certified Grief-Recovery specialist, Mark presents the process in accordance to the agreement with the Grief Recovery Institute.  This is an 8 week program designed for those who have experienced any significant loss.

Mark has a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry and a Master’s Degree in Psychology and has over 30 years of experience in Pastoral Counseling. He has completed many hours of post graduate work in the field plus many seminars and workshops to further his training. This includes his being a certified Grief Recovery specialist.

Since January of 2002, Mark has been a  counselor at Hospice Family Care, Inc. in Mesa.  He is also a member of the International Association of Police Chaplains and works as a volunteer chaplain with the Mesa Police Department.
