How many losses are there?
There are over 40 losses that can be experienced in a life time. Here is a list of some of the losses we can experience.
The loss of a loved one is perhaps the most common loss. We can experience the death of a parent, a sibling, a grandparent, a spouse or a child. A child’s death can be from a miscarriage, an abortion, or the death of an adult child. We can experience the death of a close friend and other family members as well.
Other losses include a divorce, job loss, career loss, finances and reputation. We can experience the loss of health with a chronic or terminal disease. There is the loss of innocence due to sexual abuse. We can lose parents as a result of emotional neglect or being absent.
Our dreams can disappear. What we have always desired and worked for may not come to be and that is a loss. Moving can be a loss.
Growing older is a loss to many. Health issues, the empty nest, and not finding worthiness in being older. Loss of independence goes with growing older as well.
There are many losses we can experience in life. They are cumulative and they are negative. That is the bad news. The good news is that you can complete your relationship to the pain of losses and move beyond the losses into a happier life.
Our groups will help you do that. See the schedule for more information.
